Why I built Watchover
I built Watchover for myself.

I couldn't deal with gambling on my own. I'd make promises, delete the apps, and sooner or later I'd be back. The blocking apps I looked at felt cold, and I didn't even want to try them. They all had the same gap: I could switch the filter off in two seconds and nobody would know. In a weak moment, two seconds is everything.
Then I thought: what if I could still switch it off, but someone I love would find out the moment I did? Something like that would work. So I built it, and it really did work.
The biggest difference was that someone I love would know. They weren't watching me, and they never saw which site I tried to open. They'd only learn that the protection had been switched off. That was enough. The weight wasn't on my shoulders alone anymore; it was on two people's.
I stopped. And Watchover became the first app I ever made.
I opened it to everyone because I know exactly how this feels. The late nights, the promises, the shame the next morning. If I can help someone else carry that weight a little more lightly, it genuinely makes me happy.
This isn't a treatment, and I'm not a doctor. But putting a barrier in the weak moment, and someone who loves you beside you, works. It worked for me.
